The CJ2 Compactability Tester enables reliable determination of the compactability of bentonite-bonded moulding sands in accordance with VDG guidelines. Compactability is an important parameter in moulding sand testing, as it indicates how effectively the moulding sand can be compacted under load and therefore provides the basis for a uniform mould structure. The compactability value is strongly influenced by factors such as moisture content, bentonite concentration and grain size distribution.

Precise Determination of Compactability

The CJ2 enables reliable determination of the compactability of standard sand specimens in accordance with VDG guidelines. The sample is first filled into the specimen tube using a dedicated sieving device. The material is then compacted with a defined pneumatic pressure, and the resulting volume change is measured. The compactability value is calculated from this difference. The testing process is controlled via a safe two-hand operation system, ensuring consistent and reproducible measurements. Results are recorded digitally and displayed directly on the screen, allowing for quick and unambiguous evaluation. In addition, the system stores the most recent measurement value, making results easy to review and document.
